Side Dish Ideas

What's for dinner at your house? Mine involves a super yummy side dish of Veete Dine In Rice. You wouldn't believe the many flavors to choose from! Each rice flavor can be incorporated into any dish you make. My favorite recipe to use with Veete Dine In rice is Chinese dishes. The white rice has the perfect texture to go with my teriyaki chicken. 

So you may be thinking that rice that comes in a container that is microwave may not taste good. You would be surprised, that within 2 minutes in the microwave you have deliciousness. Each pack has a unique flavor and I love just about each flavor. The packaging is conviently size to fit into your pantries. If you have a thing for quinoa there is one with that too, me personally not my style. But the Jasmine goes great with your oriental dishes. Take a chance with these sides and you will be impressed. Method

1. Heat the oil in a wok over a high heat.  Add onions and garlic, cook for 2 minutes.
2. Add the chicken breasts and cook for a further 5 minutes or until starting to brown.
3. Stir in the soy sauce, peppers, mushrooms, cook for 2-3 minutes.
4. Mix in the rice and chicken stock, heat for 2-3 minutes or until the stock has evaporated.  Serve immediately.

Ingredients

• 1 tray Veetee Chinese Style Rice
• 1 tbsp olive oil
• 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
• 1 garlic cloves, crushed
• 2 chicken breasts, diced
• 2 tbsp dark soy sauce
• 2 peppers, thinly sliced
• 4 mushrooms, thinly sliced
• 100ml chicken stock

Visit to Hollywood Wax Museum

If you are in the Myrtle Beach, SC area you should stop by the Hollywood Wax Museum Entertainment Center. I was given the chance to visit there and I do not regret it! There is 3 attractions in the building and each one is so much fun. The wax museum has something to offer for each member of the family. The three attractions are the Wax Museum, Outbreak (zombies) also the hall of mirrors.

The Wax part was really neat  and was full of detail! So many celebrities to see and also known characters in movies. Each celebrity is just like the real person, it looks like they could just walk right out on their own. A fun part of the museum is that they have props set up where you can take really fun pictures. In my pictures below you will see some of the celebrities they have in the museum. This is suited for all ages and one part of the the area is for the creepy characters of movies. So just a heads up if you do not want the youngsters walking through that corner. Once you make your way through the museum part you come out at the gift shop. If you purchased to see all three attractions then take the elevator down to the basement. 

The basement floor has the Zombie Outbreak and Hall of Mirrors exhibit. Be fair warned that the Outbreak is not suitable for little kids. It was very scary even though nothing touches you. You walk through in dim light with zombies hollering and banging and there is darkness and such. My poor husband and I were screaming like little girls almost all the way through. I can say that I could have peed all over myself as spooky as it was, my heart was racing when I got out. You will not be let down on the exhibit if your looking for a thrill.

Hall of Mirrors was next on our list. This was a lot of fun to walk through! The kids can even go through this. A fun maze of mirrors to try and find your way through to get out. Oh and at anytime you have had enough on any of the exhibits they have exits you can take. The beginning of the Hall of Mirrors exhibit was a bit much for me with the optical illusion of stars and stuff. So just be prepared to get a bit dizzy but it is so worth it!

Tips from the Nanny

Hey everyone!

I'm Suzie and I have been a nanny for over 8 years now. I love my job and sometimes it can get a bit hard at times especially on the days where kids don't have school and you need to figure out what to do to get their energy out. I'm all for having the kids choose activities most of the time; however, if there are more than one child in your care it can get kinda hard and frustrating when one kid wants to do one activity and the other wants to do something else. Now in this case, I use both activities of course in one day however, picking which activity to do first can be the trickiest and hardest part because I don't want the kids to think I'm choosing favorites or that one of their ideas is better than the other. One great way to plan out fun things to do is to write down ideas on a beach ball and throw it to the kids, whatever activity their left finger lands on (or any finger on any hand for that matter) that's the activity that will be done first and we just keep on doing it until the day is planned. The great thing about this - is that you can pretty much use this ball idea for anything…from deciding on activity like I mentioned, to what to have for dinner and much more! I hope this is helpful to some of you!

Personal Saturday entry....

Today has been a very peaceful and relaxing day here at the house. Husband let me sleep in, then we all got ready and went grocery shopping. I couldn't ask for a more perfect start to my day. Plus I did a bit of organization to the laundry room. I'm stock piled on laundry detergent from the coupon hauls that I do at Harris Teeter. But eventually toward the start of the evening I felt crappy. My whole body is achy and I feel fatigued. This has been going on for quite some time. My back starts hurting and moves down to my knees. By 8pm I'm laying in bed in tears. It's either I disappear into my room or I get moody. Anyways sorry for the whoa is me banter but it feels good to write down what Is going on in my head. Children's Chore Charts

As a mom I am always looking for ways to get my children more organized at home. Since they are getting older now, I have been assigning chores. For instance: My oldest daughter who is 7 has been shown how to load and unload the dishwasher, load washer and start it, dry clothes. Then the 5 year old collects trash from the household trash cans, picks up in bedroom and unloads dryer. The 2 year old picks up toys in living room and also picks any trash up off floors.

So with that being said, charts are the way to go. I found a really cool site that has a assortment of character chore charts. If you are interested in finding one for yourself check it out here.

I find that if a child has a chore or responsibility around the house it builds character. Plus when they see the finish outcome of their chore they will feel the since of accomplishment.
